LAUREL MARSTON
A bit about my mother
My mother, Laurel Marston, was born in the St Ann, Jamaica, West Indies. She trained and worked as a teacher and a nurse before immigrating to the United States where she continued to work in the area for nursing. However, it eventually became clear that she was drawn towards ministering to others.

One day she came home from her nursing job and told me she decided to quit her job and pursue her dream of ministering to others. She didn’t have a clear plan of where to begin or how she would support herself, but that did not deter her. She was eventually ordained as a minister and had her own congregation and church.

Reflecting back on my mother, I realize how strong she was. She was quiet, but determined and was a visionary. She was steadfast in her focus on building on her dreams and worked daily to bring them to fruition. She always strived to be a better version of herself, and to help others connect to the God center within.
